CONTINUOUS EMISSION MONITORING SYSTEMS (CEMS) : LIVESTOCK
INTRODUCTION
Continuous Livestock Emission Monitoring
Problem
  • Traditional methods focus on the simple display of real-time data and usually only at a location where monitoring systems is installed.
  • Often, the information displayed lacks context, fails in identifying hot spots of emission and it is difficult for decision makers to use when managing environmental quality.
CAUSE
  • The data available is on sampling basis.
  • This data is deficient and stratified.
  • Solid state Sensors for monitoring nitrogen and ammonia is fixed in one location at the farmland has max 1sq. meter of area of coverage.
  • Larger installation of sensing technologies is required to identify source.
  • Cutting down Nitrogen or Ammonia emission is good but one needs to take societal, scientific, juridical and practical perspective.
THEN THE QUESTION RISES AS TO HOW CAN ONE MONITOR EVERY PIECE OF FARMLAND STRETCHED ACROSS THE COUNTRY?
VIRTUAL DOME
The starting point for improving environmental quality is monitoring. A Single laser beam can monitor Greenhouse gases like Carbon di Oxide, Nitrogen Oxide, Methane, Ammonia, Hydrocarbons, Particulate Matter etc. & also Meteorological Parameters like Temperature, Humidity, Wind (speed, direction, velocity). Hence Laser will be one sensor sensing and inferring information in place of multiple / complex sensors.
This can almost create virtual dome for Livestock Emission Monitoring. Laser systems can monitor Greenhouse gases like Carbon di Oxide, Nitrogen Oxide, Methane, Ammonia, Hydrocarbons, Particulate Matter etc. & also Meteorological Parameters like Temperature, Humidity, Wind (speed, direction, velocity). The laser beam travels to the targeted area i.e. source of emission thereby quantifying and qualifying pollutants.
With this approach in monitoring livestock emission, determination of polluters, with qualitative and quantitative pollutants emitted from source can be recorded. The same can be compared with permitted emission limits and standards resulting into right actions for control.
FEATURES
Features Benefits
Continuous monitoring (CLSEMS)
  • AUM is the only continuous monitoring system which can be easily set up. AUM monitors multiple gases in real time. There is not limit of gases that can be monitored at same time. Gases can be customized as per need.
  • Measures and Monitors:- Carbon di Oxide, Nitrogen Oxide, Methane, Ammonia, Hydrocarbons, Particulate Matter at the same time.
